Gaya Railway Junction is just like a lifeline for people of Gaya. Since
Railway is the only mode of transportation that directly connects
commuters from Gaya to all the important towns of Bihar and also many of
the important cities in rest of India. Other two modes of
transportation – airway and roadway – can neither compete with railway
in connectivity nor in affordability. Therefore for people of Gaya Gaya
Railway Junction holds immense importance. From Gaya Junction one can
catch long distance superfast and express trains for all the important
cities including Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati, Ranchi,
Parasnath(Shikharji), Bokaro, Varanasi, Lucknow, Kota, Kanpur,
Allahabad, Agra etc
Besides, there are daily passenger and long distance trains to many of the main cities of Bihar. Names of these main cities are as follows: Patna, Jehanabad, Biharsharif, Rajgir, Islampur and Nawada
As for facilities are concerned, then Gaya Junction is definitely one of the most advanced stations of Bihar. It has total 9 platforms (including special pilgrimage platform), 2 foot over bridges, computerized reservation system and other important facilities like waiting room & cafeteria.
Gaya AirportGaya Airport is one of the two airports currently operating in Bihar state. It is located in pilgrimage town of Bodh Gaya and hence it is sometimes also referred as Bodh Gaya Airport. Although it is a domestic airport, but it does serve flights to few Buddhist countries like Thailand, Bhutan and Sri lanka. As far as connectivity with domestic destinations is concerned, then there are daily flights from and to to many important cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai. Currently most of the flights to and from Gaya are operated by state owned Air India, but private carriers like Jet Airways and Spicejet are also slowly increasing their flight services to Gaya.

Roadways in GayaGaya with numerous national and state highways is connected to various important destinations. 3 important National Highways (NH) pass through Gaya District. NH 82, NH 83 and NH 2. While NH 82 and NH 83 run within the state of Bihar, NH 2 on other hand directly connects Gaya to many important cities of neighboring states. These cities include Delhi, Kolkata, Faridabad, Dhanbad, Allahabad, Varanasi and many more important cities. As for NH82 and NH83 are concerned, they connect Gaya to many important cities of home state Bihar. While NH 82 connects Gaya to Mokama, NH 83 connects Gaya to Dobhi, Patna and Jehanabad.
Local Transportation in Gaya
Just like in most of the prominent cities of India, even in Gaya auto rickshaw is the most popular local transportation. The highest numbers of auto rickshaws are obviously concentrated in the main city of Gaya and many of its adjoining towns. The biggest auto rickshaw stand is located outside Gaya Railway Station. Besides, main city of Gaya is served by newly inaugurated city bus service. However, as of today only 20 city buses are in operation, covering 6 different routes in Gaya city. As for villages and towns located in deep interior of the district are concerned, then even they too are served by decent number of auto rickshaws and also private jeeps.
